We look closely at the information you provide as well as enquire about why you need the loan, how much you need, and if you have other debt. You’ll need to provide proof of ID, proof of address, and proof of your income and expenses.

Cash Converters personal loans are unsecured. The interest rate is fixed for the life of the loan and repayments can be made weekly, fortnightly, or monthly depending on your pay cycle.

Cost of borrowing

Our Cash Converters Personal Loan has an Annual Interest Rate (AIR) of 49.95%. Interest rates are fixed for the term of the loan. Interest is calculated daily and applied monthly to the outstanding loan balance.


$106 establishment fee
This is to process, assess, and establish your loan and will only be charged if your loan is approved.

Other Fees

$4 weekly account keeping fee
This is towards the ongoing administration costs for your loan.

$20 variation fee
This applies if you ask us, and we agree, to change the terms of your loan agreement including
changes to repayment methods and schedules.

$30 prepayment fee
If you choose to pay the balance in full before the final date is due, a prepayment fee applies. This is
towards the costs of finalising your loan. You will not pay this fee if you are finalising your loan as
part of a new loan application with us.

$13.95 default fee
This is payable to us if a scheduled direct debit repayment is returned to us unpaid by your bank.

$15 final notice fee
This is payable if we need to write to you providing notice that your loan is in default and
enforcement action may commence.

Debt collection fees
If you breach your loan agreement, we may engage a third party to recover outstanding funds and
you will be required to pay the fees charged by the third party.

Bad credit is considered as a factor in assessing loans, but this is not the only basis for our decision. If your credit history is a problem, we’ll be straight with you and if your situation changes you are welcome to apply again.

Completing your application for a personal loan should take less than 10 minutes. Sometimes we require extra information – we’ll let you know if we do.

We cannot confirm how long it will take us to assess your application but rest assured our team is working hard to provide an outcome for you as quickly as we can and usually within 24 hours.

We use an online verification tool – Credit Sense (a highly secure Australian Credit Reporting Body) to view your bank information. The Credit Sense process is quick, convenient, and secure and allows us to process your loan faster.

While you are required to provide your internet banking login details during the Credit Sense process, neither Cash Converters or Credit Sense sees or stores your internet banking login credentials. Your credentials are encrypted when you enter them, passed to your bank to allow us read only access to your transaction history, and then permanently deleted.

As part of our Responsible Lending obligations, we need to ensure the information we have gathered is correct. Once your details are confirmed, we can process your application more efficiently.

A top-up is a new loan, with a portion of the funds used to settle your previous loan balance. We need to make sure the top-up is enough to clear your existing loan balance AND cover what you need the new loan for.

We normally prefer you have been paying your existing loan with us for at least 6 weeks before applying for a top up, but we will occasionally consider going earlier for customers with good history who have an urgent need.

Cash Converters takes a lot of information into account when making decision. Unfortunately, we can’t always provide you the exact reasons that your application was refused.

This may be that your income is not sufficient, your credit history is not suitable, or we have detected another issue with your application or banking information.

However, in the future, if your situation changes you are welcome to apply again.
